What is Tsunami?Tsunami GIF

Tsunami comes from the two words “tsu” meaning harbor and “nami” meaning wave in which tsunami means harbour of waves. It is a series of waves with extremely long wavelength and long period generated when a body of water rapidly displace.

… there is drastic climate changes that include perfuse rain, high humidity, and dry spells

… there were a storm warning at the beach

… heard people screaming and hear a warning

Things to do after a Tsunami

  • Help your neighbors that require special assistance
  • Use the telephone only for emergency calls
  • Stay put of the building if water remains around it
  • Help injured or trapped persons. Give first aid where appropriate

How to protect yourself and your family?

  • Be aware!
  • Always look for reliable information
  • Develop a family disaster plan
  • Know your local emergency management office
  • Know the height of your street above sea level
  • Know the distance of your street from the coast or other high risk water

Survival Skills

If you are in school and you hear there is a tsunami warning, follow the advice of      your teachers

 Stay away from rivers or streams that leads to ocean, beach, and the ocean itself          if there is a tsunami

 Move to higher ground

 Stay away from low lying coastal areas

 Don’t wait for an official tsunami warning! Tell your family and friends to join           you in leaving for high ground


Remember!!!

  • Tsunami is one of the natural disaster that we could not expect when it will occur
  • All tsunamis are potentially dangerous
  • Tsunamis can reach a height of over 100 feet (30 meters) on to land
  • Beware and be aware of the signs of tsunami
  • If tsunami happens, do not panic and help other people
